Epilogue Café

Happy Monday to all my lovely readers!!!

How’s your weekend? My weekend went so well!!! I was so happy to get the invitation for two people to review the Epilogue Café. So, last Sunday, My sister and I went down to Epilogue Café which located at Orchard Central.

A short introduction about this cosy café:

Epilogue Café is a café inside the Prologue bookstore. This café offers many variations of Hot Sandwiches, Cold Cut Sandwiches, Pastas, Cakes & Desserts, Coffees and many more.

I especially adore how they decorate this café; the cosy ambience over there and their choice of songs are very nice as well.  It is such a place that can make me feel comfortable.

Over there, we tried Norwegian Smoked Salmon Sandwich, Carbonara Pasta with Beef Bacon and Signature Affogato.

Norwegian Smoked Salmon Sandwich is made with herb fiocaccia bread, served with mixed green salad. The bread is crunchy and the salmon is nice.

Their Carbonara Pasta with Beef bacon is not bad either. The bacon is a lot and the sauce is creamy.

Signature Affogato is an espresso with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. The combination between espresso and Vanilla Ice Cream is brilliant. This is a dessert that you might want to try over there.

Overall, we were satisfied to have our lunch at Epilogue Café.

PS: Big thanks to Silin, Maye and the Epilogue Café management for the invitation =)

Here are some sparks over there:

1. Currently, they are having this special set lunch promotions (1 Soup of the Day + 1 Sandwich + 1 Signature Affogato) only at $16.00 (U.P $20.00 - $22.00). A free book promo is applicable with this lunch promotion.

Kim`s Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee

Hello All!!

Today I want to review one of my favourite’s foods in Singapore called Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee.

A short introduction about this food:
Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is originally from Fujian province in south eastern China. Nowadays, this dish is served in many Southeast Asian countries (mostly in Singapore and Malaysia).

Thanks to the immigrants from Fujian - China to introduce this nice dish.

Kim’s is one of the oldest and most famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee restaurants in Singapore from 1965.

The owner - Tan Kue Kim is one of the legendary Hokkien Mee master. Maybe most of the people in their fifties will still remember his attire style: wear the long sleeve shirt and a Rolex watch while frying the Hookien Mie.

This Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee use Prawn as the main ingredient with slices of pork and squid.

Even though the price is a bit expensive ($5) compare to other Hokkien Mee, the taste very nice and the portion is big.

Other than Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, they also served other dishes like fried rice and many more.

But, since the dish that make Mr. Tan famous is the Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, why not you try this dish when you visiting his restaurant =P

Tonkichi

Tonkichi is one of a Japanese restaurant located at Tampiness Mall.  Frankly speaking, I want to try their dished quite sometimes ago, but it never fulfilled yet. Finally, last week, I managed to have my lunch over there.

If you see from their menu, their price range for each menu is more than S$15.00.

Over there, we decided to order their new dishes, which are: Maguro Zuke Don set and Bara Chirashi set.

Maguro Zuke Don Set comes with a bowl of marinated tuna on top of sushi rice, a small bowl of mini udon, 1 chawanmushi and 3 small slices of watermelon.

Bara Chirashi Set comes with a bowl of various small diced of sashimi (such as: tuna, salmon, salmon egg) on top of sushi rice, a small bowl of mini udon, 1 chawanmushi and 3 small slices of watermelon.

Their sashimi is fresh! If you are a sushi Lovers, you might want to try those set.

You might skip ordering any drink, coz over there; they serve ocha (Japanese tea) for free.

And for the side dish, we ordered Macha Azuki.

Macha Azuki is a Japanese Green Tea ice cream and sweet red bean. The taste is simply sweet and nice. The combination between Macha ice cream and the sweet red bean is awesome.

Coffee & Toast

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri for all Muslim friends around the world.

Although there is no Ketupat, I believe that Nasi Rendang and Laksa are also some of the 'important' foods to celebrate this Hari Raya.

We tried these at Coffee & Toast.

Nasi Rendang in here is nice and spicy. The chicken is quite big and tender enough.

Laksa is also nice. The dried shrimp taste is strong, makes it tastier.

Moo Moo Cake

Happy Saturday!!!

Today I will share a unique tiger roll cake called Moo Moo Cake

I found this “glorious” cake at QBread shop.

Do you want to know why I called it glorious cake? It was found at a simple bakery shop with only S$9.00. This cake got this special design with black spot which looks like Cow's skin, and the most wonderful thing is they generously add quite a lot of vanilla milk topping inside this tiger roll cake.

I am one of the custard bun lover, so this kind of cake is my favourite =)

FYI, you must keep this cake in the fridge and it will best to finish it within 3 days upon purchase.

Thanks for visiting and hope you all have a great long holiday (Sat, Sun and Mon)!!

Suanthai

Hello, All!!!

Today I will share my review about Suanthai restaurant. Suanthai is a Thai restaurant that offers buffet and ala-carte menu. It located around Killiney Road.

Over there, I and colleagues tried their buffet. Overall, most of the dishes are nice (especially the Boneless Stuffed Chicken Wing). The only thing that made us a bit dissatisfied was we could only order that Boneless Stuffed Chicken Wing for one time serve.

FYI, although they offer a ‘so called’ buffet, some of the dishes can only be ordered for one time.

Those dishes are: Tom Yam Soup with Prawn, Boneless Stuffed Chicken Wing, Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaf, Thai Style Chicken Satay, Deep Fried Squid with Garlic and Stir Fried Mixed Seafood with Basil & Long Beans.

With the price range around S$16.90 - S$19.90 (it will depend the buffet time), Suanthai’s buffet is really worth to try.

PS: If you want to try their buffet, I would suggest you to make a reservation first.

8 Tarts n Pastries

8 Tarts n Pastries is one of the Singapore’s leading bakery shop for traditional and authentic Hong Kong pastries.

They claimed that they never used any preservatives, without any artificial colouring and never used either pork or lard as well.

They offer many types of egg tarts, bun, pastries, cookies and festive Chinese New Year.

They have nine different egg tart's flavours, such as: Chef's Egg, Fresh Soya Egg Tart, Coffee Egg Tart, Dark Chocolate Egg Tart, Portuguese Egg Tart, Durian Egg Tart, Banana Egg Tart, Cheesy Egg Tart and Cempedak Egg Tart.

I tried their Dark Chocolate Egg Tart, Banana Egg Tart, Fresh Soya Egg Tart, Cheesy Egg Tart and the limited edition National Day Tart.

FYI! The limited edition National Day tart is only available from 7 - 9 August 2012. You can get this egg tart with every purchase of S$4.70 in a single receipt.

Their egg tarts are very nice and unique. And the best thing is they are very generous in giving the egg tart’s topping!!

My favourite’s egg tart flavour over there is Banana Egg Tart. Maybe it’s because I am a Banana cakes lovers :)

MOF @ My Izakaya

Ministry of Food (MOF) @ My Izakaya is one of Japanese restaurants that you can find at Bugis Junction.

This restaurant offers healthy foods with fresh and high quality ingredient. They claimed that they never use MSG, chemicals, preservatives, artificial colourings or any flavouring.

Over there, we ordered Chicken Tan-Tan Ramen, Beef Hot-Stone Rice, Matcha Cream Brulee and Mochi & An Bun.

Chicken Tan-Tan Ramen is a bit spicy and the gravy is tasty. This ramen is worth to try.

The Beef in Beef Hot-Stone Rice dish is very fresh and nice. But for me, the portion is super small =P

I was impressed with their Matcha Cream Brulee. It is very nice. I recommend you to try that dessert!!

Mochi & An Bun is an oven-baked Japanese mochi with Japanese soya bean powder, kuromitsu, Hokkaido red bean paste and seaweed. The mochi is quite hard and the taste is not that nice.

FYI, the three dishes (Chicken Tan-Tan Ramen, Beef Hot-Stone Rice and Matcha Cream Brulee) that we tried are the recommended dishes by the chef.

Happy 47th Birthday, Singapore!!

Good Thursday to All!!!

09-08-2012 is a special day in Singapore. Yes, today is Singapore 47th birthday!!

I'm sure everyone in Singapore are celebrating this event by going to Marina Bay or watching the NDP celebration at home.

For me (even though I'm not a Singaporean), I am also enjoying this birthday event by wearing the red t-shirt and white pants (of course) and hunting any cookies with Singapore birthday theme.

Please enjoy!! And one more time, Happy Birthday Singapore!!!

Barbacoa

Barbacoa (read: Ba-Ba-Kua) is one of a restaurants at City Square Mall that specialises in traditional barbeque, roast and grill.

I & my colleague tried their signature dish, which called ‘Signature Full Slab Pork Ribs’.

They have 4 different types of sauces: Spicy Sambal, smoked BBQ, Honey Cranberry and Hawaiian. We ordered the Spicy Sambal and Smoked BBQ.

I was quite surprise when saw the dishes. It was because, although it’s the same menu (we only ordered with different sauce), the layout of both dishes’ are totally different.

Overall, I am satisfied with their Signature Full Slab Pork Ribs. The meat is tender and tasty. The salad also nice and the portion are quite big as well.
