Baan Khun Nai (Authentic Thai Cuisine) @ Foundry

If you are around Mohamed Sultan Road and confuse where to eat, you might try Baan Khun Nai at Foundry.

FYI! Foundry is a beer garden serves a good selection of imported Japanese craft beer from Baird Brewing as well as the old favourites.

Baan Khun Nai offers authentic Thai cuisine, such as Green Curry, Pineapple rice, Pad Thai and many many more.

Me & my colleagues tried their Olive Fried Rice, Green Curry Seafood and Green Curry Chicken. If you order a set of dish, it comes with one of the main dish of your choice plus one Tom Yam Soup.

I guess the most favourite over there is Green Curry. Based my observation (cieh...), almost all the guests (Asian to Ang Moh) ordered this dish.

Another main dish that I love is Olive Fried Rice. The fried rice is very juicy and tasty.

Not only the dishes are tasty; the price is also affordable compare with the other restaurant nearby.

It's really worth to try!!

Avanti Espresso

Today I want to share with you all something SWEET!!!  If you are a sweet tooth, you are on the right track, baby!!

CRePEs BuFFEt @ AvaNTI ExpRESso
Crepes are a kind of dessert that I love since childhood. It’s because my ‘super talented’ mother used to make for me & my sisters. So ate at Avanti Espresso brought me back the feeling of the old time.

Went there with my colleagues, we were so happy at the first round. I mean, when we reach there, they served us 7 different crepes with a ‘just nice’ sugar level and the tastes were lovely.
But, after that, on the second round, they put tooooo much syrup/chocolate/honey, it made the crepes from lovely to awful-ly!!
We are a bit disappointed with their kind of attitude. Since they offer a buffet style, they must consistent in maintaining their quality and the sugar level quantity.

The 7 types of crepes that they offer:
- Nutella
Crepe with Hazelnut Chocolate Spread

- Traditionnelle
Crepe with Sugar, butter and your choice of vanilla or cinnamon

- Crepe de Suzette
Crepe with Butter, rum essence, orange juice and piece de orange

- Chocolate Banana
Crepe with sliced banana and chocolate sauce

- Glace
Choice of Vanilla / Chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce

- Caramelised Banana
Sliced banana, caramelised sauce with a scope of ice cream

- Exotic
Crepe with honey lemon and walnut piece

Crepe de Suzette S$8.90

Traditionnelle S$6.90

Caramelised Banana S$7.90

Exotic S$6.90

Glace S$7.90

Foong Kee Coffee Shop

Last Saturday was a great weekend for me. 1st of all, I found a good place that sells good Ang Ku Kueh (please refer to my previous post).

After that, I saw this coffee shop that sells char siew – roasted pork – chicken rice – wanton noodle. The name is Foong Kee Coffee Shop.

I was quite surprise with the crowd. For its location that NOT SO NEAR with MRT (the nearest MRT will be Outram Park MRT); the crowd over there is fantastic.

First impression is ether there are no more good food around Keong Saik Road or this coffee shop offers a fabulous chicken rice =P

Oh ya, over there I also saw one of Singapore famous blogger recommendation article (it was so big article and was stick in front this coffee shop).

PS: Do not straight away happily join on the long queue, please find a place for you to sit first!!
We ordered Char Siew and Roasted Pork, Wanton Soup, Noodle and Rice. Overall, it costs us around S$18.

The wanton noodle is very tasty. I love the Char Siew and Roasted Pork. It's quite different with normal char siew I ever tried.

Their white rice is a bit plain and too soft, so if you eat over there, just order their noodle.

FYI, Foong Kee Coffee Shop is famous for the best wanton noodle in Singapore.

Ajisen Ramen

Recently, Ajisen Ramen offers a new ramen dish called Black Gomoku Ramen.

Black Gomoku ramen consist of noodle, egg, pork, mushroom, corn, carrot and many more.

The soup is very very tasty. You can taste the sweet and sour flavour at the same time. Maybe, it’s because they use different types of ingredients and vegetables.

This is the first time I try the ramen with flavour like that. It’s really worth to try.

I found this new ramen dish at Plaza Singapura outlet. I had no idea whether Ajisen Ramen offers this new ramen dish at all the branches in Singapore, because I cannot find in their website.

Other than Black Gomoku Ramen, we also tried Spicy Chasu Ramen. This one is spicy (not that spicy though) and the soup is very rich too.

My favourite will be Black Gomoku Ramen, it’s because the taste is unique.

Ji Xiang Confectionery (Ang Ku Kueh)

Yesterday I accidently found this confectionery when I was around Outram Park. I felt really happy & lucky because could found this shop and FYI, Ang Ku Kueh is one of my favourite snacks in my childhood time.

In Indonesia, there are only having 2 different colours (red and green) of Ang Ku Kueh, which with the same topping (Sweet Bean) and a little bit different shape.

In this confectionery, you could found 7 different flavours of Ang Ku Kueh. Wow, right?

Details of the toppings:
- Peanut 60 cents
- Sweet Bean 60 cents
- Salted Bean 60 cents
- Corn 60 cents
- Coconut 60 cents
- Yam 70 cents
- Durian 80 cents

It's a smart idea to make different kind of colours of Ang Ku Kueh. It would surely makes youngsters and kids tempting to try this.

They give generous topping and the taste is very nice. You can taste the real corn, coconut, yam durian and other toppings in that Ang Ku Kueh. The skin is also thin. Normally Ang Ku Kueh skins are thick.

I believed Ji Xiang Confectionery is famous around Outram Park area, as the queue is quite long when I was there.

Nice Ang Ku Kueh and a friendly owner makes Ji Xiang Confectionery is really worth to try.

Marché Restaurants

Marché Restaurants is one of the special Restaurants that you should try. You can found Marché either at 313 Somerset or Vivo City.

Marché offers quite a lot different type of dishes. Some of the famous dishes you must try over there are Swiss Rosti and Crepe. The taste is very nice.

This restaurant interior is very cool. It would make you more comfortable having your lunch/dinner over there.

Actually, I had a dinner over there last year. One of my ‘generous’ relatives brought me there for a dinner together. Lovely environment, great food and best companion makes your dinner is simply joyful!!!

SteakOut

Hi all!! Today, I want to share my food journey at SteakOut.

I was tempted to try this restaurant since my office was moved from Redhill to Clarke Quay.  Every time I by passed this restaurant (I always see it from the bus), I got the urge to try it =)

Finally (yeah….), last week, Me & my friends had dinner over there. We ordered Norweigian King Salmon, Specialty Angus Ribeye, and Teriyaki Chicken Steak.

Specialty Angus Ribeye and Teriyaki Chicken Steak are some of the signature dishes over there.

For me personally, I love their Specialty Angus Ribeye. The meat is tender and the taste is super nice.

Their service quality is very good too. The best thing is, over there, they do not practise GST or service charge.

SteakOut is a quite famous hang out place among the Singapore Management University (SMU) students. Most probably, it because the location is just besides the SMU building.

Paradise Dynasty

I believed that most of you are ever tried Xiao Long Bao. But, have you ever tried the colourful Xiao Long Bao?

Paradise Dynasty offers eight signature Xiao Long Bao flavours: Original, Garlic, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Roe and Szechuan; which I called the colourful Xiao Long Bao =)

A short intro about Paradise Dynasty: It’s located at ION Orchard – 4th Floors. The environment is quite classy and gives you a cozy feeling. It’s a good place to hang out with your family.  As a dining restaurant at Orchard, their price range is quite affordable.  We went there around 12 noon, and there were already quite a lot people having their dim sum over there.

Beside the colorful Xiao Long Bao, we also ordered La Mian with Pork Dumpling in Hot Chili Sauce and La Mian in Signature Pork Bone Soup served with Deep-fried Pork Ribs.

I was quite surprised when tried their La Mian with Pork Dumpling in Hot Chili Sauce(not in a “good” surprise btw). For me (personally), the taste was a bit “weird”. Maybe for some people this kind of taste is delicious. It was not spicy (as you know, Indonesian people like me LOVE spicy foods), that kind of “mala” taste that can make your tongue numb after eat it. Hope you understand what I’m trying to say here =(

And as for the La Mian in Signature Pork Bone Soup served with Deep-fried Pork Ribs, it consider okay for me. It was not that spectacular, but I love the soup.
