Hifumi

The new Plaza Singapura Shopping Centre consists of many restaurants. One of the restaurants that I will review today is Hifumi restaurant.

Hifumi is a-la-carte Japanese restaurant with all-you-can-eat appetizer. This concept is quite unique.

Over there, we ordered Chicken Soup Curry set, Chicken Oyakoni set and Tonteki set. All the set meals come with miso soup, rice and all-you-can-eat appetizer bar.

Chicken Soup Curry is a stewed chicken and vegetables soup curry. The curry is not so spicy, the chicken is tender and the taste is nice.

Chicken Oyakoni is a simmered Chicken with Onion and Egg. It's best to eat when still hot.

Tonteki is a tokyo style pan-fried pork steak with Hifumi sauce. The meat is a bit hard for me.

I prefer Chicken Soup Curry and Chicken Oyakoni tham Tonteki.

Note: Chicken Soup Curry and Chicken Oyakoni are their recommended dishes.

The good thing about this restaurant is, you can try the appetizer as much as you can. Only Appetizers are FOC, the beverage is under sales.

The bad thing is you are only allowed to stay in this restaurant max 2 hours. So this restaurant might not suitable for some occasion that need more time to chit-chat, like friend/colleague reunion dinner.

Will I go there again? No, I would prefer to try another Japanese Restaurant.

Domani Cafe

Normally, my working days are only 5 days a week. But, got some special Saturday when I need to go back to my ‘lovely’ office to complete some on-hand’s project.

So, there was this one ‘lovely blue’ Saturday I stuck in the office.

To cut it short - After completed my on-hand things, I pampered myself by having a dinner at Domani Cafe.

I ordered Chicken M&M and Tiramisu. They served a free side dish, such as bread and pumpkin soup.

Chicken M&M is a grilled chicken with mushroom and mozzarella cheese. The portion is quite big, the toppings (mushroom and mozzarella cheese) are generously given and the taste is delicious.

Tiramisu has two layers of rich coffee liquor sponge with an original Italian Mousse. Topped with a layer of chocolate powder, make the overall dessert not bad.

Both dishes are their best seller, which explained why both tasted so delicious.

Will I go there again? Yes to visit the restaurant again (not to come to office on weekend).

Little Joe

PS: Another decent restaurant at Kelapa Gading – Jakarta Utara

Good morning, All!! Today, I will share with you one new restaurant located at Kelapa Gading, named Little Joe.

They have 2 different menus, menu for breakfast and for lunch-dinner.

For Breakfast menu, it’s only available from 6:00AM – 10:00AM.

I ordered Ha Kao, Kuo Tie and fried rice (all foods are for breakfast).

Their version of Ha Kao is nice and they serve in warm condition. Kuo Tie is crispy.

Fried rice over there is not oily at all and the taste is not so strong. It’s suitable for breakfast menu.

Actually, the plus point in Little Joe is not about their food, but because their restaurant decoration.

They designed it with open air - Korean style café concept. The decoration is so cool and comfy. This restaurant is also quite big, it has 2 levels. I believed most of the youngsters will love this place.

Nolboo Hangari Galbi

Hello Guys!!! How is your weekend? I spent my last weekend in my hometown AGAIN (Yippie!!!)

Anyway, today let me share with you another Korean restaurant named Nolboo Hangari Galbi.

Over there, we ordered Gal-bi Tang and Bu-Chu Jeon.

Gal-bi Tang is a beef short ribs stew with cabbage. They serve this dish in a very hot condition (You can see from the below picture that the soup still boil in the bowl).

Best to eat while it’s still hot and the beef also tender. For me, the taste is ok only.

Bu-Chu Jeon is Korean Leek Pancake. I thought this dish will be as nice as Kimchi Jeon that we tried on Man bok BBQ.

But after we tried, it was totally different. We are not really like it. This pancake contains too many vegetable.

They also cut the vegetable in the very big size, so you will feel like eating some bland vegetable instead of vegetable pancake.

Will I go there again? Absolutely No!

Bubur Ayam Cianjur

Good Day to All!!!!

Today’s post is to review another food in Jakarta, Indonesia. Oh, how I misses the food from my hometown.

It called Bubur Ayam Cianjur (Bubur = Porridge, Ayam = Chicken, Cianjur = a city name in Indonesia). It is one of my favourite foods in Jakarta.

This “bubur ayam” is not a common porridge that you can be easily found in Jakarta, especially around my complex (Kelapa Gading area).

Last time (from high school till university time), I and my mom always ate this porridge early in the morning. We walked from home to there. Although it was quite far, but I enjoyed walked together with her.

Last time the seller had one gerobak (cart) to sell his porridge. And he prepared one long chair for the customer. Even though the environments not so “clean”, there were still lot customers’ drives or walk there to eat his porridge.

What makes this porridge so special (I can guarantee chop you can't find this kind of porridge in Singapore)?

First, it's because they have a few type options of side dishes (such as Potato, Egg and many more) to add on into the porridge. Different side dish comes with different price.

Second, it's because they have this special gravy that makes the porridge taste superb. Their special gravy contains spring onions, chicken essence and other ingredients.

Third and the most important is their chili is very spicy and nice.

Their porridge comes with free crackers and emping (cracker made of melinjo).

Will I go there again?  Absolutely YES! I can never have enough of this porridge.

Pique Nique

Confused about what you should eat at JCube Shopping Centre? Then you might want to try Pique Nique.

Pique Nique offers a wide range of western foods and cakes. I believed Youngsters will love their foods and their restaurant decoration.

We ordered The Big Breakfast Burger, The Tokyo Connection Burger, Banana Split Cupcake and Red Velvet Cake.

The Big Breakfast Burger consists of Beef patty, bacon, fried egg, grilled tomato, montery jack cheese, lettuce and sautéed onion. The beef patty and bacon are delicious.

The Tokyo Connection Burger consists of Teriyaki Chicken Leg, mashed potato, wasabi mayo, tomato and lettuce.

The chicken absorbs teriyaki sauce perfectly, and it was nicely cooked. I love it, but not so in love with the combination of wasabi mayo. It's a weird combination for me. It’s just that I don’t like wasabi too much.

Banana Split Cupcake contains of banana cake, walnut French buttercream frosting, chocolate ganache and caramel.

Red Velvet Cake has a cream cheese frosting. I like their Red Velvet Cake more than Banana Split Cupcake. But overall, both cakes have a nice taste.

Will I go there again? Yes, but only if I already tried all of the restaurants at JCube =P

Which one is more preferable: Main dish or Dessert? Their main dish is “worthier” than their dessert.

 The Big Breakfast Burger S$14.00

The Tokyo Connection Burger S$12.80

Banana Split Cupcake S$4.80

Red Velvet Cake S$7.80

Loewen Garden Markets

Do you know Singapore have a Garden Market? Yes, Singapore has it. It called Loewen Garden Markets.

This market sells fresh produce, cake, chocolates, burger and many more.

Seller at this market uses a table to displays/sells their goods. Some of them provide a free samples for the customer to taste. All the goods and foods over there are not just a common goods that can be easily find in Singapore. Some of the goods are come from French and Himalayan.

Some of them make their own country famous dishes/cakes. We tried some of the samples.

All I can say is the foods are unique, fresh and quite nice.

Chocolate Mint Ganache Tart and Snickers Tart

Traditional Baklava (Almond/Walnut/Pistachio)

Dark Chocolate & Flaked Almond Baklava

I found some special jams. There are Rhododendron jam, ginger jam and Himalayan Honey jam. All the jams are from Himalayan.

Rhododendron jam is an uncommon. The colour is red like strawberry jam.

Ginger jam is use the real ginger. The ginger taste is very strong. This jam also can become tea if you pour the hot water. It's good to make your body warm.

Himalayan Honey jam is also nice. The honey taste is a slightly different with common honey.

I also found some nice fresh vegetables from Himalayan, such as Yacon and Bean. Yacon is like ‘bangkuang or Yam Bean’. Yacon and the bean are crunchy. Although is a raw, but it's very nice.

Seedless Tomatoes and Bean

The meat in burger has the perfect smoky flavour and quite tender.

Over there, I bought Maqui raw organic chocolate from SuperFood and banana pudding from Petit Pudding.

Maqui is made from Australia. Can you imagine how the raw chocolate taste does? The taste is very uniquely awkward. I never taste this kind of things before. It’s a lot bitter compare than dark chocolate, but it's nice.

Maqui raw organic chocolate

The Banana pudding is also nice. Do you know why I bought it? Because I Love banana!!! Any cakes/dessert/dishes made with banana as the ingredient, is a must-try-foods for me.

This pudding has 3 layers. First layer is cookies, second layer is banana and the first layer is pudding. As expected, it’s YUMMY.

Banana pudding

Carré pain d'épices is a French version of Gingerbread. No sugar added in this cake. They only add real raw honey.

Loewen Gardens Market located at 75 Loewen Road, off Harding Road, Tanglin Village cluster. This market opens every first and third Saturday of the month from 9:00AM - 2:00PM.

How to go there? It will be a lot easier to drive or take a cab. The nearest MRT is Orchard MRT. I spent around S$7 for the cab fee from Orchard MRT.
